Security vendor Snyk has unveiled what it’s calling the industry’s first agentic security orchestration system, according to reports from the AI Security Summit in San Francisco. The new platform, named Evo, provides orchestration of AI agents specifically designed to secure agentic applications, sources indicate.

Addressing the AI Security Gap

The massive push to rapidly develop AI and agentic applications has frequently led to security needs being sidelined, a common pattern with emerging technologies, Snyk CEO Peter McKay told CRN. While development teams might adopt a “we’ll worry about security later” approach, security teams remain accountable for protection, the report states. McKay suggested this creates significant challenges for security teams working with tools not designed for the AI era.

Compounding this issue is the accelerating development of AI-native applications driven by the rise of “AI engineers,” according to Manoj Nair, Snyk’s chief innovation officer. “These are the people who claim they are becoming 10X engineers,” Nair said in the interview. “And so we’re building something for the 10X security person to be able to keep up with these 10X engineers.”

Specialized Agent Orchestration

Evo consists of an intelligent agent orchestration system that functions as a workflow agent coordinating specialized security agents, according to the company‘s announcement. While many security vendors now offer individual agents, analysts suggest Snyk’s differentiation lies in its orchestration capabilities.

“No one’s really thought about how to orchestrate those agents,” Nair stated. “Our power here is not that we built a bunch of agents. It’s the fact that we have an agentic security-specific orchestrator that today is orchestrating our agents, but is open enough that it can orchestrate anything else out there.”, according to further reading

Specialized Task Agents

Snyk is launching several autonomous “task agents” with specialized functions, including agents for discovery, threat modeling, red teaming, MCP scanning and AI risk registry, according to the vendor’s announcement. Additionally, the company is introducing a “fix agent” to automatically remediate discovered security issues and a policy agent for proactive security policy creation and enforcement.

The Threat Modeling Agent represents a significant innovation, reportedly offering automated generation of live AI threat models. “That’s very unique,” Nair said, noting that even in the AI security startup community, few have addressed secure-by-design principles and automated design creation. “We’re able to bring that design out, and we’re able to figure out what threats are important for this kind of app.”

Comprehensive Security Coverage

Another key differentiator involves the MCP Scan Agent, which provides comprehensive visibility across Model Context Protocol servers in developer environments. The goal with this agent is to “make sure your AI tools itself are not an attack point,” Nair explained. “The tool chain itself is a point of attack because MCP is so prevalent and it’s got all these security issues.”

Partner Ecosystem and Validation

Snyk has been working with system integrator partners who have “validated” much of what the vendor has developed for the Evo offering, according to reports. These partnerships are particularly valuable for AI threat modeling services, which could be significantly enhanced by Evo and the new Threat Modeling Agent.

“They waste a lot of their time just trying to organizationally navigate how to pull this together,” Nair said of system integrators. “So for them, this becomes a much more powerful tool.” He added that the platform elevates what partners can offer from tactical to strategic levels, enabling customer success through combined expertise.

The announcement coincides with the inaugural AI Security Summit in San Francisco, where Snyk serves as a founding sponsor alongside AI.Engineer, according to summit information.
