OnlyFans' former CEO is launching a topless-friendly platform called Vylit - Professional coverage

According to Mashable, former OnlyFans CEO Amrapali Gan is launching a new 18+ platform called Vylit that will allow topless content but no explicit material. The platform launches in beta next month with a broader rollout planned for March or April 2026. Vylit will require all users to undergo facial age verification, while content creators must submit government ID. The platform partners with Unitary AI for content moderation and will review all flagged content with human moderators. Creators can monetize through subscriptions, pay-per-view content, and tips, with Vylit taking an undisclosed percentage of earnings.

The niche between mainstream and explicit

Here’s the thing – Vylit isn’t trying to be the next OnlyFans. Gan describes it as filling the “white space” between traditional platforms like Instagram and TikTok and full adult content platforms. They’re going for that HBO-level content – you can show bare breasts but nothing explicit. It’s a calculated move to appeal to what they call the “mass market” while still being 18+.

But is there really a market for this? Platforms like X and Bluesky already allow adult content, while Meta and TikTok ban it entirely. Vylit’s positioning feels like they’re trying to capture people who want to be a bit risqué without going full explicit. The question is whether that middle ground actually exists in meaningful numbers.

AI and age verification challenges

The platform is leaning hard into AI – both for content moderation and creator tools. They’re building “AI twins” that can generate content in a creator’s likeness and AI chatbots that can interact with fans. There will supposedly be transparency about when you’re talking to AI versus the actual creator, which addresses some of the controversy around OnlyFans creators using “chatters” without disclosure.

Age verification is becoming a huge deal across the internet, not just adult sites. With more states passing age verification laws, platforms from YouTube to Spotify are implementing these measures. Vylit’s approach – facial checks for users, ID for creators – shows they’re taking this seriously from day one. But these verification systems raise real privacy concerns, and we’ve seen how easily they can be bypassed or exploited.

Creator economy ambitions

Gan and co-founder Kailey Magder claim Vylit will solve the “top 1%” problem they say plagues other platforms. Their pitch is that you don’t need an existing audience to succeed on Vylit – the platform will help you build one through better discovery tools and community features. They’re specifically targeting people who feel they don’t have a big enough following to monetize elsewhere.

But here’s the reality check: building audience discovery from scratch is incredibly difficult. OnlyFans famously lacks search functionality for a reason – content discovery brings moderation nightmares. And while the creator economy is growing, most creators still struggle to make meaningful money. Vylit will need to prove it can actually deliver on the “anyone can succeed” promise.

The bigger picture

What’s really interesting here is the timing. We’re seeing a fragmentation of social platforms along age and content lines. Vylit joins a growing number of 18+ spaces emerging as mainstream platforms crack down on adult content. Meanwhile, age verification is becoming normalized across the web, fundamentally changing how we access online content.

The platform’s success will depend on whether they can actually create that safe-but-sexy space they’re promising. Too restrictive and creators will go elsewhere; too permissive and they lose that “mass market” appeal. It’s a tricky balance, and we’ll see if Vylit can pull it off when beta launches next month. In the meantime, you can review their terms of use and privacy policy for more details on how they plan to operate.
