CurbWaste’s platform centralizes customer orders, dispatching, driver apps, invoicing and reporting through what Marmo described as “implied AI” – technology working quietly in the background to automate repetitive manual tasks. The system reportedly captures and codifies “tribal knowledge” from experienced dispatchers who understand local routes and customers.
“AI allows you to consume that information and then spit out a more proactive decision-making process,” Marmo explained according to the interview.
The platform aims to standardize data flows across diverse municipal requirements while helping haulers normalize and visualize operational data. “Anything that we can do to help them normalize that data and then visualize it … and save that in a format that can be presented or automated completely is really powerful,” Marmo stated.
Building Community and Securing Funding
Beyond software solutions, sources indicate CurbWaste is fostering connections among haulers, particularly appealing to younger industry entrants who reportedly demonstrate strong interest in meaningful industry improvement.
The company recently secured $28 million in Series B funding led by Socium Ventures and backed by Cox Enterprises, with participation from Flourish Ventures, TTV Capital, B Capital Group and Squarepoint. This brings CurbWaste’s total funding to $50 million, according to reports.
“We’re going to continue to invest in the data and analytics and give customers more AI-powered business intelligence,” Marmo said. “But more than anything, our brand will stand for community … we’re going to build something that’s really powerful, and these waste haulers are going to be better for it.”

Analysts suggest the waste industry stands at a critical juncture similar to other traditional sectors undergoing digital transformation. The combination of operational inefficiencies, generational transition in leadership, and increasing regulatory complexity creates fertile ground for technological disruption.
